    Worried about scratches

A friend recommended this as a good investment, so I bought one for my husbands 40th birthday. This is a great product and does what it advertises, however, the first use with a dull and wooden spatula produced “soft” marks on the surface when I made caramelized onions. The second time we used it there ended up being a deeper scratch which I can’t figure out how it occurred. I’m hesitant to use it any further because of what may leach out, even though I read that scratches are not a concern with contaminating food. Otherwise, this is a sturdy pan.
